[edit] Power Stone Transmutation

Power stones come in two varieties: Fusion Stones and Mana Stones.

[edit] Fusion Stones

Fusion Stones can be purchased in-game from Mystic NPCs or from the Auction House. A variant, the Purified Fusion Stone, can be purchased from the Item Shop (you should also get four from certain quests in the Ystra Highlands). Fusion Stones do not have a Tier, and will have between zero and three named rune characteristics. Fusion Stones purchased from NPCs come in three types:

  • Cheap - The least expensive type of Fusion Stone will have three randomly selected attributes.
  • Moderate - For approximately 5 times the price, a Fusion Stone may be purchased that will have one specified attribute and two random. Usually people buy the "Stamina I" stones, so they can more easily match them with others.
  • Expensive - The most expensive Fusion Stone will have two specified and one randomized attribute.
  • Purified - The Purified Fusion Stone from the item Shop has no attributes.

There are also fusion stones you can buy for Ancient Mementos, which allow you to choose the stats you want, and there are fusion stones with slightly higher, odd stats on them that can be farmed from the Naga. Also see Custom Fusion Stone Tricks for additional tricks regarding fusion stones.

A "random attribute" can be a missing attribute, although this is rare. In general, the Fusion Stones used to upgrade a particular piece of equipment should have matching attributes or none at all. The reason for this is explained below.

[edit] Mana Stones

Mana Stones are created in the Arcane Transmutor, in one of two ways, but can also be purchased from the auction house.

  • Equipment + Fusion Stone - A Mana Stone can be made by combining a piece of equipment and a Fusion Stone. The process consumes the equipment, the Fusion Stone, and one Transmutor charge. A Mana Stone created in this fashion will carry the Tier of the Equipment used in the creation (or one tier higher, depending on the quality and level of the equipment, see below), and any named attributes present on either the Fusion Stone or the equipment. If a particular attribute (Type and Level) appears on both the Fusion Stone and on the equipment, it is only eligible for inclusion once in the final item (the number of the stat is counted as part of the name, so "Stamina I" and "Stamina II" are considered different). If there are more than six attributes between the Fusion Stone and the equipment, the six weakest will appear on the resultant Mana Stone. The selection of weak attributes is the reason that blank or matching Fusion stones are desirable. See Basic_guide#Basics_of_Statting for information on how these attributes are compared.
  • Mana Stone + Mana Stone + Mana Stone - Three Mana Stones of the same Tier may be combined to create a single Mana Stone of the next Tier. This process consumes all three Mana Stones and one Transmutor charge. Named attributes from the three mana stones will be combined and selected as discussed above under Equipment + Fusion Stone.
  • There are exceptions to the transmutation of fusion stones into mana stones:
Level 50 Purple becomes Tier 4
level 54 blue becomes Tier 4
Level 61 White becomes Tier 4
Level 58 green becomes Tier 4?
Level 68 purple becomes Tier 5

[edit] Enhancing Equipment

The final step in an equipment upgrade also uses the Arcane Transmutor: You combine three mana stones with a single piece of equipment to transfer the stats from the mana stones to the equipment. It is wise to only enhance equipment that has a durability of more than 100, a so-called "overdurable" or "OD" item, as these provide an additional 20% bonus to all attributes and tiering done to them. Alternately a golden repair hammer can be used to make an item OD, but this will slowly fade and can't be regained through regular repairs.

The six weakest attributes/stats are transferred over, including any attributes that are already available on the gear.

To get the best possible stats use power stones that have the exact same stats on them to get the fewest number of weak stats on the gear, or only use clean mana stones created using purified fusion stones.

Mana stones can also be used to increase the tier of equipment strengthening the base stats by 10% per a tier increase. Combining 3 mana stones of the same tier create 1 mana stone of a higher tier. This is mostly used on weapons, as the "Magical Damage" and "Physical Damage" attributes of weapons is far more important than any attributes that can be added to them. Nowadays a tier 10-11 weapon is considered essential to do high end instances.
